Internet Names

Internet names are sold on a first come first served basis.

Normally, once acquired, a domain name remains the property of the person who first registered it. You can however, be prevented from using a name if it infringes another's property rights in that name.

A name may not necessarily be a trade mark but the use of a name may still infringe someone else's property rights. Where a name is associated with a company or good or service it may be illegal to use the same name where it causes confusion in the publics mind. This is called passing off and is illegal in both Scotland and England.
